This is a great opportunity for students and alumni to learn more about what different organizations do, to inquire about a particular area of law, to get a feel for different office cultures, and perhaps to impress someone enough to secure an interview. Table Talk conversations are not formal, scheduled interviews, but they provide an opportunity for organizations to gain exposure and for employers to meet and connect with students based on shared interests. Employers who are conducting interviews in the afternoon but do not have a full schedule may offer interview slots to students they meet through Table Talk. It can feel a bit like speed dating, but it is a serious job interview. Many employers base their hiring decisions solely on submitted application materials and the career fair interview.
